Setting the Right Expectations
Now that your organization has made the decision to invest in SportsRecruits and use the platform to help your athletes get more exposure and manage their recruiting process, it is extremely important to empower your athletes to get started on the platform right away!
One of the most effective ways of doing this is to send a message to your entire team or organization that sets the expectation that you will be leaning on SportsRecruits to drive the recruiting process and that offers athlete-driven objectives that establish a foundation for a successful recruiting process on the platform. Just like in practice, setting clear expectations and holding your athletes accountable are the best ways to ensure they are successful. With the SportsRecruits messaging system, you and your staff have an extremely easy way to communicate directly with all of your athletes at once as well as centralize all lines of recruiting communication in one place. Most importantly, setting expectations using the very tool you have invested in for your athletes shows your commitment to enhancing their recruiting efforts using SportsRecruits!
Below is an example of a message to send to your athletes that provides them with key milestones to hit on the platform. We recommend giving your athletes a weekly "challenge" to complete on the platform to guarantee they are maximizing their time and energy on SportsRecruits!
Example Message to Send to Your Team
SUBJECT: Getting Started with SportsRecruits
Athletes --
Our program is using SportsRecruits to make sure you have all the tools necessary to tackle your college recruiting process, especially as much of the recruiting process has transitioned online.
To get started, you are required to watch the following video: SportsRecruits Student-Athlete Training (it's only 9 minutes and will walk you through all the features of your new profile). You can also find tips and tricks on the SportsRecruits 101 Webinars, which are scheduled on the following page, with recordings of previous webinars at the bottom: SportsRecruits Webinar Landing Page
After you've gone through that quick video, I've also outlined some action items below to help you get started.
Challenge 1: Make sure your profile is Verified
-
Add your position(s)
-
Update your grad year if it is not already in there
-
Then fill-in all of your basic athletic background data, and add your GPA, last year's academic transcript etc. - This should be thought of as an academic AND athletic RESUME
Challenge 2: Get Video on your profile - Now more than EVER, College Coaches are relying on video to assess you as an athlete
-
Here's how to Upload any videos you have to your profile. Or if you have video already up on other video sites, you can also Embed Video to your Profile
-
Once you have film up, you have full access to the In-Platform Highlight Reel Editor, which you can use to clip that film into full reels, or specific skills videos
-
Also, SportsRecruits includes one FREE professional Highlight Reel for each and every one of you guys as members of our organization! I highly recommend taking advantage of this. The links below will help you do so:
Challenge 3: Start building a list of schools, we're going to start with 20 schools on your list
-
Using the Advanced School Search you can filter by division, conference and by college major to determine schools that are of interest to you
-
Personalize this list so that you can stay organized as you start to reach out to these coaches
Challenge 4: Introduce yourself to college coaches
-
Start using the messaging system to express interest in programs on your favorites list
-
Every message you send through SportsRecruits will include a link to your profile (that you've already filled out!), which will give that coach direct access to this 'online resume'
-
You'll then be able to tell exactly which college coaches have viewed your profile with SportsRecruits complete transparency.
If you have any questions, from forgetting your password to how to add something on your profile, you can email help@sportsrecruits.com or the SportsRecruits Help Center is also a great place for tips.
Let's get it going,
Coach
