Student-athletes on SportsRecruits can utilize our in-platform Highlight Reel Editor to build unlimited highlight reels using clips from any video files uploaded to their profile. If video files were embedded in your profile from YouTube or Hudl, you are not able to use them to build a highlight reel. You'll need to upload the source files directly to your profile. Follow the below steps to learn how to upload video files from Hudl or YouTube to your profile.
Uploading YouTube Videos to Your Student-Athlete Profile
- Head to YouTube.com and navigate to the video that you want to download.
- Highlight the URL at the top of the page.
- Go to google and type in “Youtube Downloader”. Choose the Youtube downloader of your choice. For this example, https://yt5s.com/en116 is being used.
- Paste the video’s URL and press “start”.
- Click “Get Link” then press download.
The downloaded video will appear at the bottom of your screen, and you can access it in your files. Follow the instructions in the help article below to then upload this video file to SportsRecruits so that you can add clips from it to your highlight reel!

Uploading Hudl Videos to Your Student-Athlete Profile
Hudl does not permit users to download any footage from their platform. However, you can utilize a workaround with a Google Chrome Extension. This extension does not allow you to download entire games of raw footage from their platform. You'll only be able to download highlight reels or clips from highlight reels that were trimmed in Hudl.
Option A
The simplest way to get footage off of Hudl is to contact your account administrator, or whoever has access to the source files. As them to provide you access to the source files. Those can easily be uploaded to SportsRecruits.
For example, if your team coach sent you a video that was purchased at an event from a 3rd party video provider, they may have used Hudl to distribute this video to you. They likely have access to the original files they uploaded to Hudl.
Option B
If you cannot access the source files, you can use a Google Chrome Extension to download clips from Hudl. To start, you'll need to create individual clips or a highlight reel in Hudl. Utilize their help desk resources to do so.
