Playlists allow college coaches to evaluate your skills efficiently. Create a Pinned Playlist with your top “Career Best Plays” and additional Playlists with specific season or tournament highlights. Read below to learn how to build standout Playlists, publish them for college coaches to see, and make changes when necessary.
Getting Started With Playlists
There are a few basic steps to creating a Playlist:
- Add Video: Before getting started, student-athletes should ensure that they’ve added video content to their Video Library. Student-athletes can use the following types of video in Playlists.
- Create Clips:- Student-athletes should then create clips of their best plays using the clip editing tool.
- Compile and Publish: Once clips have been created, student-athletes can compile their clips into a playlist and publish the playlist to their profile.
What Type of Videos Can I Use for My Playlists?
Student-athletes can use the following types of video for their Playlists:
- ✅ Video files uploaded to the Athlete Video Library
- ✅ Videos synced from video partners like Balltime, sidelineHD, and NLV.
- ✅ Highlight reels embedded from Hudl.
- ✅ Event game film purchased through SportsRecruits or Cross Street Sports.
- ✅ Event game film bundled in a Pro subscription of IWLCARecruits or IMLCARecruits. Note: Subscription-bundled film is specific to men’s and women’s lacrosse accounts with Pro Subscriptions (IMLCARecruits Pro and IWLCARecruits Pro, respectively).
Keep in mind, student-athletes can NOT use the following types of video for their Playlists:
- ❌ Videos embedded from YouTube
- ❌ Videos embedded from Vimeo
- ⚠️ Event game film bundled in IWLCARecruits and IMLCARecruits Pro cannot be used when the athlete account status is Free or Expired.
Creating and Editing Playlists (Using the Playlist Editor)
Athletes can create a playlist using the “Create Playlist” button at the top of the Video Library. They can edit an existing playlist by clicking the Gear Icon on the Playlist card in the Athlete Video Library and choosing the “Edit Playlist” option.
Once a playlist is created, you can take the following actions in the Playlist Editor:
- Edit the Playlist Name: Add a descriptive title to the playlist.
-
Add Clips: Athletes can choose to select from their existing clips or create new ones.
- Add existing clips: Athletes can select any of their existing clips to add to a playlist.
- Create new clips: If you choose to create new clips, you will then select a source video to start creating clips in the clip editing tool.
- Note: Clips are reusable across any playlists that an athlete creates. However, a single clip can be added to the same playlist only once, so there are no duplicate clips within a playlist.
-
Set the order of the clips:
- Once clips have been added to a playlist, athletes can order them by dragging and dropping the card in the clip list on the left side of the Playlist Editor.
-
Remove clips
- You can remove a clip from a playlist by clicking the ellipsis dropdown on the clip card (in the left-side clip list) and then choosing “Remove from playlist.”
-
Publish the playlist
- Edits an athlete makes in the Playlist Editor are auto-saved and reflected in the playlist preview, but aren’t auto-published.
- For the changes to become live, the athlete must publish the playlist by clicking the “Publish” button in the top right of the Playlist Editor.
-
Unpublishing the playlist
- If you want to unpublish your playlist, click the ellipsis icon in the top-right corner, directly to the right of the "Publish Edits" button. Unpublishing clips puts your pinned playlist in draft mode until you click the "Publish Edits" button again.
-
Deleting the playlist
- If you want to delete your playlist, click the ellipsis icon in the top-right corner, directly to the right of the "Publish Edits" button. Deleting the playlist cannot be undone.
- Deleting a playlist will not delete the clips associated with the playlist. The clips will still be available for use in other playlists.
Managing Playlists in the Video Library
In the Video Library, athletes can manage any of their existing playlists. They can publish and unpublish playlists, determine the order in which the playlists appear on the Athlete Profile, and select which playlist is pinned.
-
Ordering Playlists
- Use the axis icon to drag-and-drop a playlist card. The order of the playlists in the Video Library determines the order in which the playlists will appear on the Athlete Profile.
- Note: The pinned playlist is always locked at the first position in the Video Library.
-
Publish and unpublish Playlists
- Use the publishing toggle to set a playlist as visible or hidden on the Athlete Profile.
-
Choose the Pinned Playlist
- In the Gear Menu dropdown, there is an option to pin/unpin a playlist. When a playlist is currently “unpinned” (ie, it’s a general playlist), an athlete can set it as the pinned playlist. The previously pinned playlist will remain published as a general playlist. When a playlist is currently pinned, an athlete can unpin it, and it will become a general playlist.
-
Edit Playlist
- In the Gear Menu dropdown, there is an option to Edit a playlist. This will open the playlist in the Playlist Editor.
-
Delete Playlist
- In the Gear Menu dropdown, there is an option to delete a playlist.
-
Copy the share link
- In the Gear Menu dropdown, there is an option to copy a share link.
- The share link is specific to the playlist and can be pasted into a Messaging System draft or an external email.
- The share link option is only available in the dropdown menu for published playlists. If a playlist isn’t published, then the share link option will be hidden from the Gear Menu dropdown.
