Confused about what stats you should be entering on your softball profile, or what the abbreviations mean? No need to worry! The descriptions below will tell you exactly what each stat means, so that you know how to properly fill out your athletic information. The descriptions correspond to the number labels on the image.
What do these softball statistics mean?
1) FB (Best): This stands for fastball, best. If you are a pitcher, you should fill this out. Enter in the speed of the best fastball you can throw in MPH. For example, type in 57.
2) FB (Range): This stands for fastball, range. If you are a pitcher, you should fill this out. Enter in the range of speeds at which you typically throw your fastball throughout a game in MPH. For example, type in 52-56.
3) INF: This stands for infield. If you are an infielder, you should fill this out. Here, enter in the speed at which you throw the ball while fielding a ball from an infield position in MPH. For example, type in 52.
4) OF: This stands for outfield. Here, enter in the speed at which you throw the ball while fielding a ball from an outfield position in MPH. Typically, this is when throwing the ball from a crop hop. For example, type in 62.
5) 1B: This stands for first base. If you are a first baseman, you should fill this out. Here, enter in the speed at which you throw the ball while fielding a ball from the 1B position in MPH. For example, type in 52.
6) C: This stands for catcher. If you are a catcher, you should fill this out. Here, enter in the speed at which you throw the ball out of your catcher's stance in MPH. For example, type in 57.
7) Curveball: This field is for your curveball speed. If you are a pitcher, you should fill this out. Enter in the speed of the best curveball you can throw in MPH. For example, type in 65.
8) Changeup: This field is for your changeup speed. If you are a pitcher, you should fill this out. Enter in the speed of the best changeup you can throw in MPH. For example, type in 52.
9) H-1B: Enter the time it takes to run from home to first base. SS.hs stand for seconds, and hundredths of a second. For example, type in 02.98
10) Exit Velo (tee): This is the speed at which the ball comes off of your bat from a tee in MPH. For example, type 67.
11) Pop: If you are a catcher, you should fill this out. Your pop time is the time it takes you to throw the ball to second base (as if picking of a baserunner) from the time the pitch hits your glove, to the time the ball hits the 2nd baseman's glove. SS.hs stand for seconds, and hundredths of a second. For example, type in 01.91.
12) 60 yard time: Enter the time it takes you to sprint 60 yards. SS.hs stand for seconds, and hundredths of a second. For example, type in 07.23.
13) 40 yard time: Enter the time it takes you to sprint 40 yards. SS.hs stand for seconds, and hundredths of a second. For example, type in 05.77.
14) 20 yard time: Enter the time it takes you to sprint 20 yards. SS.hs stand for seconds, and hundredths of a second. For example, type in 03.02.
15) 10 yard time: Enter the time it takes you to sprint 10 yards. SS.hs stand for seconds, and hundredths of a second. For example, type in 02.11.
16) Additional Statistics: Here you can type in any other stats you have that you feel would represent you well as a potential recruit. Below are a couple of examples:
"Played in 26 games, starting in all of them...Totaled seven hits with eight RBI, six runs and eight walks...Posted three extra base hits with two doubles and a home run... posting four hits, three runs, four RBI and six walks...Didn't commit an error with 148 putouts..."
".314 Batting Average with 15 homeruns. 12 game hit streak. 6 Strikeouts all season."
"Started in 16/18 games this summer season. Posted an ERA of 2.10. 7 games with at least 10 strikeouts."
College coaches will use this information to evaluate your skill level during the college recruiting process and, ultimately, determine if you are a good fit for their program. Along with your athletic statistics, they will also evaluate your academic information, video, transcripts, and any other content on your profile.
