Video is a crucial part of the recruiting process. SportsRecruits does not offer filming services for your club's events or playdays. However, we've outlined how your club can independently go about getting film from your event. Once your event is filmed, the videographers you hire can utilize your club’s SportsRecruits account the built-in video distribution tools in your Club Video Library to allow your teams and athletes to access the film.
A) Before the Event
Once you have finalized the event details surrounding your event, you'll need to determine how many videographers will be required to film your event. Make sure you know the following information before doing so:
- Date & Location
- # of Games Per Day
- Start Time of First & Last Games of the Day
- Length of Games
- # of Fields
- Proximity of Fields to Each Other
- Whether There is Build In Elevation on Site to film from (hill sides, bleachers, stadium seating, etc)
Email the details of your event to the videographer that best suits your needs. It is important to set clear expectations with them as to how much they will be paid, how they will be paid, how many games/hours they are expected to film, when to arrive, where to film from, and how they should be delivering the footage to you. We recommend having the videographer report at least 30 minutes prior to their first game so that they have ample time to get situated.
If you do not know any trusted videographers, reference the resources below:
- Regional Videographer Recommendations
- Call your local high school or college athletic department for recommendations
- Call local videography companies
- Post the job on a hiring site such as Upwork or Guru
B) Processing & Distributing the Film
Processing & uploading game footage should be the responsibility of the videographer that you hire. We recommend requiring videographers to deliver the footage to your club uploading it to to your club's video library, which includes a built-in video distribution tool.
Here are the steps that the videographer will need to follow:
- Dump the files from the SD cards onto their computer
- Use a basic editing software such as Final Cut Pro or iMovie to create a single video file for each game
- Export each game file as a MOV or MP4 file
- Login to access the Club Video Library section on the platform
- Upload & name each game video file in the Club Video Library
To grant the videographer access to the Club Video Library, you can share your username & password with them. If you prefer, the SportsRecruits team can add the videographer as Video Coordinator to your account. This will grant them access to upload & edit videos, but not to access any player information.
Once the videographer has uploaded all of your event film to the Club Video Library, a member of your club's staff can choose individual athletes or club teams to assign each game to. Doing so will add the game video to each athlete's SportsRecruits profile. Reach out to your account manager directly for help with this.
Feel free to share this help article with your videography team directly. Still have questions? Check out How to Upload and Assign Club or High School Video.
What role will the SportsRecruits team play in helping to film our events?
Our team is 100% focused on what we do best - providing our software as a service to your club & your athletes. Unfortunately, we are not able to play any operational role in the filming of your events. All of these arrangements will need to be handled independently by a staff member at your organization.
The SportsRecruits team is happy to help when it comes to providing the resources listed in this article & getting your staff set up to use our video distribution platform, FrontRow. Beyond that, our team will not be involved in the filming of your event.
