Before publishing a playlist to your Athlete Profile, you’ll need to create clips from the videos in your library. A Pinned Playlist appears at the very top of your profile, allowing coaches to evaluate your best skills efficiently the moment they land on your page. With your SportsRecruits account, you can now create multiple playlists to organize your film by season, event, or position.
How to Create a Clip
To start creating clips, navigate to your Video Library by clicking the “Video” tab at the top of the screen, then click Go to Playlist Editor.
- Click the Create New Clips button.
- Select the video from which you wish to take clips.
- Another way: Head to a specific video in your library, click the Gear Icon, and select Clips.
Creating Clips from Hudl Footage
You can create clips from embedded Hudl footage by following these steps:
- Select the embedded Hudl video in your library.
- Click on the blue gear icon and select "Enable Clip Creation."
-
After the video is processed, select Create Clips and follow the standard clipping steps below.
Trimming & Customizing Your Clips
Once you have selected a video, it’s time to start clipping:
- Trim the clip: Set the start and end times using the yellow handles or by typing the exact timestamps.
-
Add clip information: Skills: (Required) Tag the specific skills shown.
- Jersey Info: (Recommended) Add your jersey number and color.
- Caption: (Optional) Add context for the coach.
- Add Isolation Effects: Click the + Effect button to add a spotlight/circle to identify yourself in the frame. Select your style and color, then click Save Effect.
- Click Done: Once finished, you can publish these clips directly to your profile or save them to your library.
Managing Your Playlists
Now that you can create multiple playlists, you can organize your film more effectively:
- Create a New Playlist: Click the Create Playlist button at the top of the Video Library. Give it a custom title and select any existing clips to add.
- Reusing Clips: Clips are reusable! The same clip can be added to multiple playlists, but only once per playlist to avoid duplicates.
- Ordering Playlists: Use the axis icon on the playlist card to drag and drop. The order in your Video Library determines the order in which they appear in the “Film” section of your profile.
- The Pinned Playlist: This is always locked at the top of your profile. To change which playlist is pinned, click the Gear Icon on any playlist card and select Pin Playlist.
The "Film" Tab & Profile Layout
- Pinned Playlist: This remains the primary video content at the top of your profile. We recommend pinning a "Career Best Plays" playlist here.
- Playlists Section: All other published playlists will appear in a dedicated Playlists subsection under your Film tab.
- Direct Sharing: In the Gear Menu of any published playlist, click Copy Share Link to send a specific playlist directly to a coach. From there, you get the clips directly to your device. Keep in mind that each playlist clip has to be downloaded individually, and downloading a full playlist as one video file is currently not available.
Advanced Coach View Tracking
When a coach views a playlist, your Activity Feed provides deeper insights:
- Clip-Level Data: See exactly which clips within a playlist were watched.
- Real-time Alerts: Notifications show the specific skill tags and captions that caught the coach’s eye.
- Viewing Logic: A "view" is recorded once a coach watches 5 seconds of a clip.
Downloading Playlist Clips
- Head to the Video Tab and click Go to Playlist Editor.
- Click on the three dots (...) of the clip you wish to download.
- Click Download to save the clip directly to your device
- Keep in mind that playlist clips must be downloaded individually. Downloading an entire playlist as one video file is not supported at this time.
